Yatan, a non-profit at Gurugram in Haryana has been offering free ration kits to those who have no alternative but to continue with their profession even during the coronavirus pandemic.
The coronavirus outbreak has forced people across country to stay indoors in order to break the chain of the deadly virus. But there are many who have to step outside to work in order to make our lives comfortable.
Yatan offering free ration to bottom rung of the society
Yatan, a Gurugram based non-profit in Haryana has been helping security guards, domestic helps and rag pickers among others who are still doing their duty despite the lockdown. The non-profit has been distributing packets of wheat, flour, pulses, bread, biscuits and sugar to people from lower rung of the society, “Our team of volunteers have been distributing essential commodities to maids, watchmen, vegetable sellers and others who are serving us,” said Shalinii Kapoor, the founder of Yatan.
“We realized that it was important to serve them who are keeping us safe and also ensuring food supply for us. We have offered free ration kits to around 150 people and aim to reach 500 persons.”
It’s a non-profit working for women empowerment by offering vocational training and also holding evening classes for children from under privileged section of the society. Most of the contributions are arranged from friends and well-wishers, said Shalinii.
