Ushor, a non-profit in Kolkata is working for a section of society whom we have forgotten in this hour of crisis while locking ourselves inside our homes. Ushor has been reaching to marginalized sections of the society like those living in old age homes and children living in orphanages. The non-profit has been distributing face masks, sanitizers, hand wash and anti-bacterial sops to senior citizens and orphanage children who have no one to look after.
Distributing medical items to senior citizens and orphans
Around 25 volunteers of Ushor are working tirelessly around the clock in Kolkata and its outskirts reaching out to 14 old age homes and 12 orphanages distributing the vital items to save its inhabitants from getting infected with coronavirus, “We launched our campaign from March 16 by creating awareness on social media about coronavirus. Soon, we decided to work on ground after the situation started taking a turn for the worse. We decided to work for those who were forgotten by the society. We felt that they needed the utmost care and attention,” said Biswadeb Mukherjee 34, a volunteer of Ushor.

Supplying rations and other essentials to people
Besides, they are doing another commendable job. The volunteers are procuring and supplying food items to those who cannot step outside their houses like senior citizens living alone in the city.
