This Youth in rural Odisha is making money by connecting patients with doctors

Accessibility of adequate health facilities is a major issue in rural India. People often depend on quacks to get cure of their ailments in the absence of doctors. The absence of proper knowledge about whom to consult for particular ailment further creates confusion among the patients and their families.

Asit Deo who used to work as a medical representative in Jajpur district of Odisha sensed a business opportunity. The 30-year-old realised that most of the people had not idea which doctor to consult for their ailment. He decided to turn into a business model.

In 2017, he started his company, Clinipoint Health Care Solutions Private Limited to connect patients with the kind of doctors they required for treatment. He began to promote about his company through banners in different villages asking people to call him to fix appointment with various specialists in the neighbouring areas of Cuttack, Bhadrak and Jajpur.

He has expanded his reach to 132 villages of Jajpur district in Odisha. He has partnered with 27 doctors to whom he sends patients regularly and also earns a commission for fixing up the appointment. So far, he has connected 9000 individuals to doctors. Asit is also conducting health and fitness camps in schools in collaboration with the state government.
