Dad’s demise shattered the dreams
Deepak Agarwal (45), like many of us, had dreams of studying in abroad and becoming a well settled professional. But destiny had some other plans. His dreams were shattered when he lost his father at a tender age and he was forced to leave study after completing intermediate exams.
Shoulder the responsibility of the family
He had to shoulder the responsibility of his mother and sisters. Agarwal then tried his hands in many businesses in Kanpur but because of some issues, he decided to come back to Hisar (his hometown) in Haryana and start a new business on his own.
Manufacturing CNG and LPG kits
Deepak along with his wife Shalini became successful in running a factory of manufacturing of CNG and LPG kits. His company Autotronics Industries Private Limited attained good reputation. However, Covid-19 outbreak affected their business and forced them to think about a product that may fetch good bucks to them to survive the pandemic.
Covid-19 hit the business
He says he was not getting much business due to fall in requirement in LPG and CNG kits.“We were thinking what exactly to manufacture amidst Covid-19. We identified infrared thermometer as one of the opportunities and started a manufacturing unit in May, 2020. With limited funds, we took a challenge in expanding our business into medical devices,” Agarwal told Chalgenius.
Started with infrared thermometer
Shalini told Chalgenius that there are thousands of infrared thermometer brands available in the market and such medical devices are now in the hands of non-medicos. People should be concerned about the quality of such thermometers, she remarks.
No Chinese products
“We have done something exceptional. Instead of buying a readymade device from China, we are importing different parts of the devices from best of the quality companies. Like the PCB is coming from a different company, sensor is coming from a different Taiwanese firm and the body of the device from another company and then putting it altogether to create a product which is as economical as the Chinese one but far better than the Chinese thermometers which are often plagued with a bad quality sensor, PCB or bad reading sensor,” Shalini says.
Better than the competitors
Deepak says the measuring range is one important factor of thermometers. A majority of brands’ have a measuring range from one to five cms whereas our devices have five to ten cms range, he adds.
“Ninety per cent of the products in the market are having measuring range of 1-5 cms. We offer one year complete warranty of replacement. It is being sold at Rs 1,999 including GST and shipping charges. Most of the people do not have appropriate knowledge of what should be kept in mind while buying an infrared thermometer,” Deepak says.
He accepts that the manufacturing speed of his products is not really fast but he offers high quality which is hard to find in other brands.
