An agritech-based startup that envisions improving the scalability of spices produced by farmers, Krishikan aims to help farmers get better results with minimum effort. Dive into the work process of the company!
India has always served as a prominent producer of spices and a superpower in terms of resources, the country is a major supplier of spices all over the world, recording an all-time high export rate during 2020-21. According to official reports, the overall spice production in 2021-22 was recorded at 10.88 million tonnes.
To upscale the production and derive results that surpass the minimum efforts, Krishikan, an agritech-based company has been diving deep into inspecting the various aspects of agricultural matters and the ways through which the resources bring out the best results.
Krishikan, a business founded in 2020 by Mr. Vivek Radhakrishnan and Mr. Raj Kancham, aims to enable sustainable farming and offer the answers required by the farming community in the twenty-first century. The firm provides the farming community with Inspiration, Innovation, and Technology on a single platform.
The firm works with different farmer organizations to advise them on high-quality inputs like seeds, the best way to use fertilizers, how to manage diseases, etc. According to Kancham, the farmers using the platform have increased productivity by between 12 and 35% while simultaneously reducing input expenses by at least 20%.
About 5,500 farmers are also regularly contacted by the team to assist them in closely monitoring the crop and to give them timely feedback or guidance. An internal web-based application, which is accessible via mobile devices, is used for this.
Apart from providing inputs to the farmers, the company also purchases spices produced. Spices are the most valuable resources which are also used to manufacture medicines, and hence, Krishikan has collaborated with various buyers including food processing companies, exporters, and pharmaceutical companies.
Kancham states that Krishikan can lower the strict limits for residue levels in spices that apply to the export market. It has been able to raise the exportability of its products from 60% to 80%.
