Braving all odds, Entrepreneur has scripted a success story by becoming one of the most well-known insurance consultants and investment advisors of Kolkata. Spare a few minutes to know more about his inspiring journey.
Wanted to be an entrepreneur
Since childhood, Krishanu Chattopadhyay always wanted to be an entrepreneur. He wanted to be his own boss rather than working for others. His hard work has paid off and as an insurance consultant and investment advisor he handles over 2500 clients with impressive insurance covers of over Rs 100 crore. He has been registered with the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA), Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), and Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI). His clientele list also includes several Business Owners’, Professionals, service Holders, and celebrities.
Struggling childhood
But the initial journey was not smooth. Born in Konnangar at Hooghly district of West Bengal, Krishanu is the eldest of two siblings with a younger sister. His father was an engineer and life was quite smooth.
But soon, the young boy had to face the turbulence of life when his father met with a road accident. He was just in Class V then, “It became too difficult for my father to handle the financial expenses of our family. I was sent to my maternal uncle’s home for my education,” he says as tears welled up in his eyes.
But life still had cruel plans for him. His father passed away in 1991. He was just in his early 20s then. Soon, he came to terms with the ugly reality of life and the financial struggles involved, “I was a bright student but the death of my father was a huge loss for me. I studied hard and passed out my graduation from Hooghly Mohsin College in 1993,” he says while taking a trip down the memory lane. Accident road accidents faced some that led to financial.
Took up advertising and marketing job
Soon, after his graduation in 1993, Krishanu joined the Institute of Modern Management (IMM) in Kolkata and learned the tricks of advertising, “I had dreamt of becoming an entrepreneur but financial compulsions forced me to take up a job. But I never allowed the seeds of entrepreneurship to die within me.”
He also completed CFP and FS and also pursued MBA in Insurance and Financial planning.
Started his own firm
In 2000, he eventually quit his job and started working as an interior designer and interior decorator, the skill he acquired through sheer observation. In 2015, he decided to venture into wealth management and Insurance Consultancy Services and founded KC Life Financial Services.
He got his clients through his sheer hard work, “Diversification is very important in life to succeed. I ventured into financial planning as I felt that it is very important to secure the life of our family, especially our children, and help them achieve their dreams. We help our clients to invest wisely even with a minimum income with the help of a goal chart. After all, little drops of water make the mighty ocean,” he says.
Services offered
“We assist our clients to create a pension plan for their golden years, health insurance, term plan, children education and marriage Planning, financial protection against any foreseen events, etc. We work with companies like LIC, HDFC, Religare, Star health Insurance among others. We also have full buckets of mutual funds as NJ Patner. It is my dream to provide financial freedom to at least 1 lakh families in India.”
Over 2500 clients with 100 crore insurance cover
His dedication and honesty have earned him over 2500 clients in the span of just six years with insurance of over 100 crores. The entrepreneur also has several sports and other celebrities on his client’s list.
Unsurprisingly, he has several awards in his kitty including MDI (Gurgoan), and MDRT (USA) which is the highest recognition in the global insurance industry.
Clients have good words
His clients who have been with him since his initial days are in full praise for him, “He has been taking care of my investment portfolio for the past many years. He is very trustworthy and offers me the best advice in investing. I feel he is one of the best investment advisors today,” said Mohan K. Jha, a Kolkata based industrialist.
His advice for young entrepreneurs is, “Believe you can and you will. Diversification is the key to success.”
