Coronavirus outbreak snatches livelihood
Sundarbans in West Bengal are known for their pristine beauty and dense forest that is home to several wild animals, especially royal Bengal tigers. Tourists from across the globe come to visit the mangroves of the Sundarbans that also gives employment to its inhabitants.
But the outbreak of coronavirus has snatched off livelihood from several hundred people who are depended on tourists. The region also suffers from severe poverty forcing the locals to work as labourers in different parts of the country.
In such a scenario, residents living in the remote areas of Sundarbans fear of facing severe starvation rather than coronavirus.
