15% of the world’s population experiencing disability: WHO
According to the WHO Disability Report One billion people or 15% of the World’s population experience some form of disability. Although there is no recent census data available in India in this segment, WHO estimates that disability prevalence is higher than 15% in developing countries. Post COVID-19 the disability numbers are expected to increase due to poverty, malnutrition, inadequate access to education and healthcare, unsafe working conditions, a polluted environment, and lack of access to safe water and sanitization.
STARABLE for start-ups offering solutions to the problem
VARIJA LIFE and STARTUP BUDDY have announced a competition ‘STARABLE’ for startups offering solutions for people with Physical or Mental special needs, in association with Start Up India. It is the first step to encourage entrepreneurs and investors. A multi-billion dollar opportunity is unexplored and waiting to be tapped, with very little competition and a huge market size.

Prizes worth over 10 lakhs
Prizes worth INR 10 Lakhs have been announced for the winners of this startup challenge. Apart from mentorship and guidance from industry experts, the winners will get access to various other grants and investment opportunities.
