Rising power bills a headache
The rising electricity bills has been a major cause of concern for people across all sections of society particularly the middle-class and poor who cannot afford to pay hefty bills. Several protests take place regularly across the country against rising bills but nothing is being done.
Faulty appliances increases monthly bills
A start-up at Gurugram in Haryana has found a solution for the rising bills. Bharat Kumar, who runs EPVI new technological epoch private limited, claims to have made a device that controls the wastage of power after being fitted into the MCB(Miniature Circuit Breaker) box, “We noticed that power is alive in the wires even after the appliances have been turned off. The faulty appliances and overuse of appliances are also other issues. The combination leads to the wastage of power and adds to the power consumption and inflated monthly bill,” said the young entrepreneur to Chalgenius.
Smi-Fi saves around 30 percent of monthly bill
The 25-year-old entrepreneur told Chalgenius that the Intelligence of Things (IoT) device has been named Smi-Fi and it saves around 25-30 percent electricity bill, “The device can be controlled through the cell phone and Internet. It also shows on cell phone the total power consumption and the power saved. The device shuts off the power of switched off appliances completely.”
Not at all costly
The cost of Smi-Fi for 1 BHK flat is Rs 5000 and Rs 12500 for 3 BHK, “The price is not high because the same amount is often wasted for paying power bills even without consumption of electricity throughout the year. The device has a longer durability,” said Bharat to Chalgenius adding that he has 422 pending orders for the device.
