Raja was passionate about music
None of the family members of Raja Saxophonist was into music but everybody was music lovers. Perhaps, it inspired Raja to take up music as its full time career.
Raja Saxaphonist is counted among the well-known saxophone players in Bengal. He has performed along with several established musicians and singers in the course of his career that spans nearly two decades.
Journey began in 2001
Raja told chalgenius that his journey began in 2001 when he started learning guitar as his first musical instrument, “None of my family members had any connection with the music industry but everybody loved music. My parents readily agreed when I decided to become a guitarist.”
Raja stays at Ashok nagar in North 24 parganas district of West Bengal. Apart from guitar, he has also played synthesiser.
Turned into a saxophonist in 2017
Since 2017, he decided to become a saxophonist. Interestingly, he says that he learnt the art of playing the instrument by himself and by watching some videos in you tube, “I didn’t hire any teacher to learn saxophone. I used to follow musicians while they played during stage shows and also gained some knowledge through You Tube videos,” said Raja while talking exclusively to chalgenius.
Since then he is a full time saxophonist. He was originally known as Raja Dey but fell so much in love with saxophone that added saxophonist as suffix to his name.
Raja has performed with well-known singers and musicians across the country and even in Bangladesh. He wants to continue with his passion.
