An organization for social cause
33-year old Kolkata-based Saumin Ali started her own company HRADIANCE last year. It provides virtual HR services to startups, NGOs and MSMEs as well as mentoring sessions to startups and incubators.
Being a certified trainer, Saumin helps companies in maintaining the provisions for Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace (POSH). “I’m helping 2 companies to form internal committees and is working an an external member in another company. I also help companies to prepare their anti-sexual harassment policy as well as in preparing the compliance report, which has to be submitted to the local district magistrate office,” said Saumin.
“Start-ups face a lot of problems at the beginning. Proper guidance helps them to overcome obstacles and get certain benefits that they were earlier not aware of. Hiring an HR team is usually not financially feasible for most start-ups. At HRADIANCE we provide HR services and guidance virtually,” explained Barun Mitra, co-founder of HRADIANCE and a retired government employee. The company has roped in industry experts and has 5 team members.
The company helps to provide exemptions to start-ups under labour laws for 3 years, legal/IP/trade mark/patent assistance with in-house lawyer, statutory compliance, employee engagement, employer branding, HR operations, money recovery assistance under MSME Acts, payroll management and hiring & on-boarding.
Child abuse can be dealt primarily through awareness
“Child abuse still remains a common thing and we have all been abused sometime in our lives. Studies have revealed that children are abused mostly by close relatives or people whom they know. It is only by generating awareness among parents and teachers that it is possible to do away with incidents of child abuse,” she said.
“By knowing the provisions of the act we will be able to protect our children. We have to work together to provide a safe and secure environment to children at home and at schools. I conduct awareness sessions and training on POCSO Act in schools from time to time.”
Saumin, with an MBA in HR, left her job after working as an HR professional for 8 years. She has recently held an HR session for mentoring startups and incubators in Assam. Last month, she held a free session on POCSO with 4-5 schools in Lucknow for students and teachers. Plans are afoot to hold productivity counseling for MSMEs next week for Bangalore and Kerala units of the MSME Technology Development Center, Agra.
It helps in enabling start-ups and MSMEs ecosystem compliant towards labour laws and facilitating HR advisory in solving people issues affecting business.
