Reason of launching the company

Ludhiana based Harjot Kaur Gambhir wants to offer non-allergic bakery products to people which is healthy and unharmful.
She says her daughter had a milk allergy which prompted her to stop buying such products from bakeries and start making them at home with 100 percent natural ingredients. She then started baking vegan cookies and cakes. Harjot has received accolades from her family and friends who praised and encouraged her to have something of her own and start selling it to people.

Preservatives harmful

She points out that people use lot of types of preservatives to make cookies. “People usually take cookies with morning and evening tea just for the taste which is unhealthy. What we try to do is that we make cookies without using preservatives and are completely healthy for the people,” she told Chalgenius.
“All our products are preservative-free and chemical free. Our one cookie with a cup of tea gives you taste with health with lots of good energy,” she told Chalgenius.

Launch in 2018

She started her bakery on October 10, 2018 in the name of Delicious Bites but she later registered the company as DB Delicious Bites Private limited in January 2020.
She is getting demand from Amritsar, Ambala and Mohali and major corporate companies. The company has millet based cookies, whole grain oats, almonds cookies, peanut butter and jams. She was also selected in RKVY RAFTAAR PABI programme in Punjab Agriculture University and also got a grant.

Selling abroad

She tells that people took her cookies in Canada and USA and were highly appreciable of the products and told her that they wish to buy them locally in Canada too. She says she would be happy to supply bakery products in US and Canada in the future.

USP

The taste of millet and other cookies prepared by DB Delicious Bites makes them unique. She says that people do like the taste of her products which is the main reason behind her success.

Covid-19

The global pandemic might have disrupted businesses on a massive level but for Gambhir it was a blessing in disguise as she got massive orders in the past few months. She attributes people’s keenness for buying healthy and hygienic products because of the pandemic outbreak. It thus resulted in surge in number of orders of bakery products.

Future

In next 2-3 years, she wants to see her company as a leading brand in the healthy bakery segment with availability across the country. Gambhir eyes on an annual turnover of over Rs 25 crore. She also wants to have a customer base of more than one lakh in the coming future.

Though, the company has a website but she also gets orders through Whatsapp by people in Ludhiana.
A kilo of millet and other cookies’ packet is available at Rs 1,000 and the smallest packet of 150 grams is being sold at Rs 150.
