Two friends –Upaljyoti Baruah and Daydeep Chetia- were preparing for Assam Civil Service Examinations with an eye on getting coveted government jobs. Their dreams couldn’t materialize but it brought to focus the problems faced by several hundreds of students preparing to clear the prestigious examinations.
The duo felt that absence of the coaching in vernacular languages was posing as a hurdle to the path of the aspiring candidates who were not so much acquainted with English. They turned this idea into a business opportunity and founded Let’s Learn Together in January, 2019.
Let’s Lean Together is a Guwahati based online platform that provides smartphone based coaching for competitive exams to students in regional languages like Assamese, English and Hindi. Let’s learn together has been incubated at Assam Start-up, an initiative of the Assam government to promote start-ups.
They provide students with video classes, study material, mock exams and daily newspaper analysis, “We realized that connectivity is a main issue in North Eastern States and students from far flung and remote areas find it difficult to travel to Guwahati and attend coaching classes. The limited knowledge about English also stands as a hurdle while preparing for examinations. We are not only providing them with video coaching classes through professors and successful candidates but also teaching them in regional languages,” said Daydeep.
Since inception, they have taught around 1600 candidates out of which around 300 have been successful in getting government jobs on their merit, she added.
Soon, they are also going to add languages like Bodo, Karbi and Bengali on their platform. They work on the subscription based model for revenue generation. The students can also ask questions on group chats in whatsapp.
