A Kashmiri youth from Srinagar’s Shalamar area has embarked on a 900-km-long yatra on foot to Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The die-hard fan of Narendra Modi says it his dream to meet the prime minister.
A college dropout, Faheem Nazir works as an electrician. He became an admirer of PM Modi a few years ago when the prime minister stopped speaking for some time at a rally as ‘Azaan’ started playing from a nearby mosque.
“PM Modi’s gesture touched my heart. I became a big fan of his. I went to Delhi twice to meet PM Modi. But, unfortunately, I couldn’t meet him,” said Faheem Nazir while speaking to India Today near Udhampur on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
“I even made an attempt to meet PM Modi during his visit to Kashmir. But, again, I wasn’t allowed to meet him due to security reasons. Now, I’m going to Delhi on foot to meet him. I’m hopeful that I would be able to meet him this time,” said Nazir.
When asked about the abrogation of Article 370 & 35A, Faheem Nazir hailed the Modi government’s decision. He said that Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing massive development after becoming a Union Territory.
“Earlier, development was going at a slow pace. But since the abrogation of Article 370 & 35A things have changed. Jammu and Kashmir is now a Union Territory. Developmental works are taking place at a very big scale. A large number of youth in the valley are happy with the performance of the Modi government,” Faheem Nazir added.
When asked what he would say to PM Modi if he gets an opportunity to meet him, the Modi fan said that he would raise the issue of unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir. He would also ask him to provide more opportunities to the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
