There will be no more waiting in the cold for the mechanic or the tow truck to arrive after breakdown as two students – Utkarsh Mishra and Hritik Shubham from BIT Mesra, Ranchi –aim to offer relief to people with their new breakdown app – Mechanic On Wheels (MeOW).
“When Utkarsh and I were in class XII we had to push our scooty for 28 kilometres at night before we could find a mechanic. Since then we were trying to do something about this problem. And finally we are working on this App,” said Hritik, a third-year student hailing from Ranchi.
One who registers in this App, would be connected to the nearest mechanic during a breakdown after searching from the customer’s nearest location. “Along with helping such people we want to help the small mechanics. Through this initiative we will be able to improve the livelihood of the mechanics,” he added. A fee would be charged for connecting the nearest mechanic to the customer in need of the service.
Initially the App would be used for connecting mechanics, the duo want to expand to include on-demand access to garages and other service providers such as spare part dealers, service stations and vehicle towing and breakdown services.
This will be a very easy convenient and hassle-free process of contacting a mechanic during an emergency.
