Over 2000 people fed daily

The devotees of International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) Mayapur have been distributing food relief under the name Food for Life ( FFL)on a daily basis to more than 2000 people who have lost their livelihood owing to the coronavirus outbreak followed by lockdown, “We are distributing food to the needy people belonging to different communities, along with food we are also advising them to follow government rules and maintain social distance” said Bhakti Purshottam Maharaj to chalgenius,

Food supplied in remote areas

Five vans are regularly plying huge quantities of food, escorted by local administrative authorities. The vans visit the most remote villages in Nabadwip where devotees distribute food to hundreds of people lined up in queues.

Six devotees prepare food since morning

A team of six devotees start their preparations early in the morning so that by afternoon the food could be distributed. Each van has two devotees who visit the villages. “The devotees are very enthusiastically participating in this mission as we regard the villagers as Dhamvasis who are very dear to our Lord Sri Chaitanya MahaPrabhu and it’s a service to them” said Subroto Das Head Communications ISKCON Mayapur, to chalgenius.

Over six million people served

As per the data provided by the temples and Annamrita foundation, it has served 60, 34,156 plates as on April 10th across India. ISKCON has evolved as an institution which is serving poor people by distributing food, providing spiritual strength through online sessions to fight the fear of corona virus and also educating villagers of Nabadwip importance of maintaining social distancing, washing hands repeatedly. The devotees are also advised to follow the directives of the government strictly.
