How an Odisha based Edupreneur has scripted a huge success amidst lockdown

The inception

Sitansu Mishra, Chief Facilitator, Jobskul says that he was working with IL&FS ETS (education and technology services) division in Bhubaneswar many years back and at that time the government had set the target of imparting training to 55,000 youth.
He says IL&FS managed to achieve the target in two phases and the set of trainers including him was then deployed to several places in Odisha. This moment proved to be a milestone for Sitansu who then decided to build his career in soft skill training. After doing his M. Tech and he landed a job with Odisha Engineering College. He used to engage himself in different students’ engagement programmes during his tenure at this college.

Quit his job

Sitansu says in 2017 when his wife got transferred to Vishakhapatnam, he thought that it was the perfect opportunity for him to quit his job and go to other State to work. Then he joined a start up called T-Hub in Hyderabad. After this, he went to Chhattisgarh to join a government programme—Mukhya Mantri Yuva Swavalamban Yojana for skill development of students. After working there, he finally made his mind to launch his own company in the skill development domain.

Decided to launch his own start-up

He finally unveiled a startup named Apogee Consulting & Training Services LLP on November 14, 2017. Initially it was not doing well. He says that probably it was a wrong decision to float a company in November-December because many colleges used to conduct last semester exams during this duration. We had not control over it, Sitansu admits, adding that he rather took it positively.
Finally, he achieved a success when he met the legendary cricketer Krish Srikanth in January 2018 and he came to know about the company. Sitansu says his company had signed an MoU with Krish Srikanth’s company in Chennai. It was related to employability skills. We have been running the project since then till date, he says.
Sitansu says his company has trained around 30,000-35,000 students.

Modus Operandi

He says he has been connected with several education institutions irrespective of the college background. Sitansu says he build a rapport with dozens of premium colleges over the past many years. Jobskul has around 12 members but when it comes to training, the company is connected with 50-60 odd trainers across the country.

Unique Selling Proposition

“Last year we had started our brand named Jobskul. The lockdown imposed due to Covid-19 posed a lot of challenges to us but it could not stop the operations of Jobskul. The company is training students remotely,” he says.
Sitansu informs Chal Genius that the Jobskul first conducts counseling and then psychometric tests to assess a particular student’s weaknesses and strengths.
He says Jobskul not only focuses on campus to corporate employability training alone, but also prepares beneficiaries for end number of competitive exams.
The candidates get trained in domain knowledge as per industry standards and requirements which is very rare to find in different colleges as they might not always do. The company works hard to make students job-ready by imparting right set of skills needed to them.
