Six youths from Dehradun who hail from different walks of life have launched Home Street to create livelihood for people who have skills but suffer from dearth of opportunities.
Turning hobby into opportunity
Damanpreet Singh Chandok, a Chartered Account by profession along with five youths has launched a start-up in Dehradun (Uttarakhand) that translates hobbies into livelihood.
To start with, Damanpreet and his team are offering home cooked food to people particularly students in educational institutions spread across Dehradun.
Launched on 1st March, this year, Home Street is already gaining attraction among people who want to pursue their hobby while staying at home. And also who want to relish home cooked food.
Home Street provides home made food at your doorstep
They have a collaboration with homemakers who cook food in the comfort of their homes which are then supplied to the customers with the help of delivery boys. Home Street has already delivered 55 tiffins and 60 percent of them have become their regular customers. The minimum orders for customers start at Rs 50 and goes up to Rs 600 for food items. Their food items include both vegetarian and non-vegetarian items.
The story behind the start-up
Damanpreet says that he realized people have natural talents but often circumstances make it difficult to pursue it further, “My friends soon agreed to the idea when I discussed with them. We decided to launch a platform where the hobbies and skills would create livelihood opportunities.”
Not Just food, but More!
It’s not just food. Home Street offers an opportunity to all kinds of talents like paintings, toy making or another skills, “We even allow children to showcase their talents on our platform and earn kudos besides making money,” said Smiley Malhotra, one of the founders.
Soon switching to Online
Home Street that has been doing business offline would soon switch to online with an application.
