Several organizations and individuals have played commendable role to create awareness among people to fight against coronavirus across the country.
Undoubtedly, the efforts of the non-profit and other voluntary organizations have helped to alert people mostly belonging to the lower strata of the society who were not aware about the monster coronavirus.
Awareness campaigns in slums
One among them is Glad Bharat foundation, a non-profit that has ran awareness campaigns against the coronavirus at Gaya in Bihar and Gaziabad in Uttar Pradesh respectively.
The non-profit has been set-up by five individuals who decided to do something for the society. The members of the organization has distributed face masks and hands sanitizers among people, mostly those living in slums, “We started our awareness campaign from March 16 when the coronavirus began to take a turn for the worse in the country. We began by running awareness campaigns among people in Gaya and Gaziabad explaining them among the importance of social distancing to contain the coronavirus,” said Er.Ahmad Abdullah Shahbazi, 30, an engineer who left his profession to be a full-time social worker.
Over 800 people benefitted
Ahmed said, around 500 people have been distributed free masks at Indrapuram in Gaziabad while those can afford to buy it were sold at a subsidized price of Rs 10, “We also distributed 300 hand wash lotion to people in slums of Gaya. We tried to create awareness among them about the importance of washing hands frequently or returning from outside,” said Tarique Ahsan, another founder.
What is Glad Bharat Foundation?
It is a non-profit set-up on August 5, 2019 at Gaya in Bihar for environment protection and water conservation. The foundation has been established by five persons enthusiastic to work for the society.
