Hult Prize 2021

Hult Prize is here at Jadavpur University to provide students with an opportunity to pitch in their start-up ideas. It is not just an event but a programme to focus on holistic entrepreneurial development. The event will be held online on December 5.


The Hult Prize Foundation transforms how young people envision their possibilities as leaders of change in the world around them. With a US$1,000,000 global startup prize as its anchor activity, the Hult Prize has brought impact-focused programs, events and training to over a million students globally, creating a pathway for the youth everywhere to take action to build a better world.

The event flowchart

The Info Seminar marks the beginning where students are informed about the Hult Foundation and importance of social entrepreneurship. Last year’s finalists share their experience in the Mentoring Session.
Next, the organising team invites industry professionals and alumni and arranges brainstorming sessions on various sectors that are aligned to the problem statement to give a better idea to the contestants.
Team Matchmaking sessions are held to connect like-minded people and help them form a consolidated team. Bootcamp Mentoring Session is held by industry professionals to change ideas into actions and finally Mock Pitching Session is held to prepare participants for the final day pitching event. Hult Prize at Jadavpur University has come a long way from the first OnCampus Round being organised in 2016, to the OnCampus winners pitching at Regionals all around the globe starting from San Francisco, Shanghai, Dubai, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur to name a few. This year they take on the daunting challenge to organize this entire event completely online because of the new normal.


The precursor events

These are highly preparatory in nature and enable the participants to pitch their solutions effectively.
i) The first event on breaking down the intricacies of Design Thinking for the participants was organized on November 13 that had Mr Shoan Shinde, an ISB passout, evangelist and design-thinking expert. Additionally, there were an idea-validation sessions for the teams which have registered already.
ii) The second one will be a session on Case Solving on November 21 and shall see Mr Priyanjit Biswas, an IIM C alumnus, who will explain the basics of formulating solutions to business problems.

Two international webinars that stole the show

(a) Event conducted by Mr Tahsin Toqi, Co-Founder of JuteX, winner of Ho Chi Minh City Regionals on September 12.
(b) On November 2 the event was conducted by Ms Lina Zahayka, Co-founder and CEO of Greeners, winner of Rawabi Regionals.
