Frustrated with Jharkhand government’s apathy, innovative start-ups form an association to fight for their rights

Indian Start-Up Association (ISUA) has been set up by 107 innovative entrepreneurs who are in a deplorable condition following lack of assistance from the Jharkhand government. Want to know more about their issue. Just spare a few minutes in reading the article. ….

The birth

The birth
In 2016 Jharkhand government launched a start-up policy for providing necessary assistance to 107 innovative start-ups. However, the association complains that nothing much was done for the entrepreneurs in the last four years as a result of which they are in a very bad condition. Many of the entrepreneurs had left their jobs for setting up their ventures. The Covid pandemic added to their woes further. The association has been formed to take up all the voices in a collective manner so as to help the start-ups to survive.

Demands of the start-ups

Apart from financial support, start-ups should be made eligible by including them in government tenders and expression of interest. They also demand the inclusion of a member of the association in the various boards set up by the government.
“The government had provided an aid of Rs 1 to 1.5 lakh to very few start-ups initially. We want more financial support from the government. One should understand that start-ups can contribute to employment generation in a big way because at times a single start-up is capable of generating over one lakh jobs in direct and indirect manner,” told Rathin Bhadra, national president of ISUA to Chalgenius from Ranchi.
“They are on the stage of becoming paupers if they get no help from the government. We request the government to fulfil the requirements of the start-ups. The start-ups can perform excellent if they are put on the right track,” he added.

Way forward

The association has written to director of state IT, Manoj Kumar about the condition of the 107 entrepreneurs and the demands of the association. Along with pursuing government agencies, ISUA will approach business chambers and industrialists for giving scope to start-ups. In 2019 state chief secretary had stressed on providing scope to start-ups but nothing has come up till now, added Bhadra.
Repeated call to Jharkhand officials yielded no results.

ISUA Aim

ISUA wants to provide a platform for new enterprises, startups and potential entrepreneurs from the state to establish a successful business. It aims to create an industry and entrepreneur friendly ecosystem in the entire country and build a pool of entrepreneurs for the future. It is a coalition of entrepreneurs, business and community leaders and organizations.

Services offered

ISUA offers an excellent platform to entrepreneurs where one can get a single window service from advisory services to fund raising support and handholding. ISUA aims to promote entrepreneurship by providing relevant linkages, skill development activities directly or indirectly creating job space and opportunities, and participating in the country’s economic growth along with expanding business opportunities across all sectors of industries in the region.
