UV Sanitisation machine
Desperate times call for desperate measures. A 21-year-old student from Odisha has devised a low cost Ultra Violet (UV) sanitisation machine to sanitise several household items during the COVID 19 outbreak.
Why the machine was invented
Before going into the details about the functioning of the UV sanitisation machine, it is very important to know what led Abhishek Mohapatra to make such invention.
Concerns about costly machines
The 21-year-old who is a third-year student of Sikha-O-Anushandhan (SOA) University at Bhubaneswar says that he was particularly concerned about the astronomical cost of UV sanitizing machines available in the market, “The UV machines in the market are costly and come at a price of around Rs 30,000. It is not possible for every individual to buy such machines especially during the pandemic when people are reeling under severe money constraints,” he told Chalgenius.
Machine can sanitize belongings
Abhishek who is studying BSc (Agriculture) says that the UV sanitisation machine invented by him would be available at a price of just Rs 1000 or even lesser in the market, “I had always been experimenting with my ideas to develop solutions. COVID 19 posed a new challenge to me. I have used a box, a sensor and other required materials to prepare the low cost machine,” he told Chalgenius.
He claims that the machine can sanitize mobile phones, currency notes, glasses and other items which are otherwise tough to sanitize with disinfects.” The product is in the final stages of production and would soon be ready. My main aim is to give the technology to all at affordable rates. I have planned to meet the industry people and the government to boosting the production of the product to help others,” he told Chalgenius.
Doing various innovations
But this is not the first time. Abhishek has manufactured several Covid preventive items at his home when the city was struggling to get them in the market. He developed portable table strap size disposable soaps to reduce the burden of taking whole hard soap or liquid shops to the office or market.
