Control electrical appliances with a cell phone
Divyansh Mathur and Pranjal Kacholia who have been students of chemical engineering at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, has developed a mobile application and hardware device from which the electrical devices of the household can be controlled through ‘Internet of Things.’
It’s cheap and easy to operate
Pranjal says that the user is just required to pay around 60-70k for 3 BHK flat, “We have developed the hardware device that fits behind the electrical switchboard of the house. Our device is much cheaper as compared to our competitors. The app has to be downloaded on mobile from the play store or apple store and the login and password would be provided with us. The customer has to do some configuration. He can manage the switch off and on of all appliances of the houses and even individual gadgets. The entire installation process takes about 15 minutes with the hardware modules connected to the Wi-Fi system in your home.”
An idea inspired by bedridden grandmother
Divyansh told Chalgenius that the idea came to his mind after seeing his bed-ridden grandmother, “My grandmother was bedridden in the last days of her life and she was not able to perform her daily chores by herself. She was very dependent on other people even for small things like turning on the fan or turning off the switch for the tube light etc. I thought of developing a technology that would help her do operate the appliances from the comfort of her bed.”
Later, he discussed the idea with his friend Pranjal who was doing a research in the same field. He immediately liked the concept.
Revenue of Rs 10 lakh
Eden Smart Homes has sold around 200 units of the hardware device, which goes by the name Eden device, and the company’s total revenue has been 10 lakh rupees so far. The company soon aims to launch device for corporate that would make electrical bills cheaper by 20 percent.
