Please tell us something about yourself?
I started my journey as a Client Relations Professional back in 2013 handling HNI clients and forayed into PR back in 2016 when I flew to Cardiff for my post-graduation in International Public Relations and Global Communications Management.
After I returned to India (Kolkata), I was working with Eastern India’s largest Entertainment Company for 3 years wherein I took care of very prominent portfolios. As the sole founder of my PR agency, Inkcollab, I wear all the hats required for its survival and growth. Since the company is at a very nascent stage, I concentrate more on networking and understanding the client requirements so that the founding principles are rock solid.
Reasons for starting the company?
I have wanted to create my own space where ideas could flow more easily and I could work on my own terms. Inkcollab PR was planted in my career goals since the time I went to Cardiff University to complete a course on Public Affairs. The kind of possibilities that PR has, on a global scale, amazed me . I met several young and dynamic PR professionals in the UK who had started an agency of their own and were running it successfully. I felt the need to contribute to the industry by incepting an agency of my own.
While pursuing my role as a fulltime Entertainment PR in the beginning of 2020, a friend of mine encouraged me to get into my own business and I decided to take the plunge.
Please tell us also about as it was when it was formed?
Inkcollab was officially live on 17th September, 2020 marking the occasion of Vishwakarma Pujo, an important day to start new businesses in India
What are the services you offer that makes your company different from others?
We don’t have any pre-conceived notions about any industry, client or business post Covid. We are constantly striving to bring in a new angle to client servicing by making client comfort a priority, especially because the pandemic has created a slightly terse atmosphere for business relations. We believe that flexibility in thought and action not only benefits the clients, but also helps us survive any shocks that come our way.
Does your work involve doing PR for early stage start-ups or only for established companies?
We have not created any segments for targeting clients yet. I think that’s one of our strengths because we want to cater to all sorts of businesses and bring something new to their table. We believe we have the expertise and long-term plans to handle all sorts of campaigns and demands.
In fact some of our most optimistic and enthusiastic clients who are eager to invest in their brand management are start-ups and individuals starting something new.
Has Covid been a boon or bane for public relation companies?
It solely depends upon how companies have handled their growth ratio. I believe most companies took a hit and absorbed that shock eventually. Right now, PR agencies are tapping growing industries like Pharma and Fintech to sustain growth. Clients which dropped off or halted businesses are reviving. Keeping that in mind, the sail isn’t as turbulent as it was in the initial phases of lockdown.
What are major challenges that PR companies are facing nowadays?
PR industries face a lot of brunt for business decisions, and the ethics debate becomes synonymous to what clients we handle. The changing media landscape created what looked like a downward spiral for most of us, but eventually everyone realized that the shift to digital was perhaps closer than anticipated. Erasing the traditional mindsets is always cumbersome, but eventually the psychological shift will happen, regardless.
