Farha Shuaib launched her own organic henna after flooded with complaints of poor quality of henna available in the market. She is making around Rs 15,000-Rs 20,000 per month within eight months of launching and her product is quite in demand among her customers.
Why Farha chose to venture into organic Henna?
Farha Shuaib ran a beauty parlour for seven years in Delhi. During this time, Farha was flooded with complaints of hair discolour and hair loss from customers due to the presence of chemicals in the henna available in the market. Farha decided to manufacture organic henna that would be safe for the hair.
Extensive research led to the product
Farha says that she spent hours on the Internet doing research on organic material suppliers used in the making of henna. She was assisted by her husband who comes from a science background, “After spending several days on the Internet, we finally zeroed in on a supplier from south India whom she found suitable to supply her with the material used for manufacturing organic henna.”
Farha’s henna gains popularity
The young woman entrepreneur purchased the organic material and packed it in her house after adding some more natural items like soda water and organic colours.
The henna prepared by Farha Shuaib gives a burgundy colour. It gives a conditioning effect to the hair and retains the colour for almost a month.
Popularity among friends and relatives
Launched eight months ago, ‘Farha’s Henna’ has become so popular among friends and relatives that she is planning to bring it to the market. The product is available in 150g packets that cost Rs 160.
Currently, the product helps her earn around Rs 15,000 to 20,000 per month. This is higher than her earnings through the parlour.
