Left her job for mother

Aditi Arora was working as an IT Professional with a multi-national company in Delhi and had a decent income till 2012. She was living a happy life with her husband in Delhi. She had never thought of returning to Kolkata from where she hails.

But her mother’s illness changed everything. Aditi had to quit her job and return to Kolkata to look after her ailing mother in November, 2012.

Learnt all the cooking herself

Having lived a busy professional life, Aditi began to get bore with the household life where she spent most of the time indoors. She also didn’t take up a job as she felt that the pay package she was being offered in Kolkata was not at par of her salary in Delhi.

She decided to do something, “My mother was a good cook and she had taught lot of food items to me during my childhood days. I am a foodie and had an inclination towards different varieties of food items. I began to read books of famous chefs during the leisure hours. I didn’t take up any professional course. I started to experiment the cooked food items on my husband and mother who were very supportive,” she told Chalgenius with a chuckle.

Aditi felt Puchkas can offer a good market

In 2014, she started a catering service called Aditi’s Caterer. Later, she thought of making varieties of Puchkas (golgappas) as it is a craze among people from all sections of the society, “I realised that puchkas are enjoyed by very section of the society right from children to elders. But most people avoid them due to lack of cleanliness by the vendors and suffer from mucus problems due to tamarind consumption.”
